What is meant by POWER UP?

POWER UP means being connected to the power source (God)
who enables us to experience personal growth and service to others.

Just as a lamp, when plugged into its electrical power source, gives light to its surroundings, so we, when plugged into our power source, give light to the darkness that is in us and around us.  (Matthew 5:16)

To POWER UP we need to be connected to our power source by:

   1. Prayer and meditation in God’s word

   2. Sacrificial commitment to Christ and each other

   3. Knowledge of God’s calling and word

   4. Obedience to God’s calling and word

To POWER UP we need to see, and own, who we are in Christ:
   1. We are created by God’s word to be His saved people, the church,
        Christ-followers.
   2. We are filled with God’s Spirit to be channels of the gospel message
and good works for blessing our surroundings.
   3. We network together in God's power to help each other make it all
happen rather than be isolated and lone workers.

The result of POWERING UP is personal maturing and serving to meet needs.  The ultimate by-product we pray for is to see more people in heaven and living God-glorifying lives on earth.

You can be involved as a “power outlet” or a “plug-in”, or both.

   1. A “power outlet” is one who serves others to help them grow in Christ.

   2. A “plug-in” is one who plugs in to what the outlets offer for personal
maturing and growth, in hopes of one day being equipped to be a
       power outlet.

We don’t often see God’s power until we step out and do something. For opportunities to be involved, check out our POWER UP board at the church, or at www.glasgowec.com
